I boarded my dog at a new place. A few days after she got home she started limping and was lethargic. I took her to the vet and she tested positive for lyme disease.

She is on antibiotics and is fine now, but I can’t help blaming the new kennel. Could she have been bitten by a tick from another dog at the kennel and developed symptoms within a week?

A tick would jump from dog to dog. Ticks embed themselves in the host dog and won’t move until they’ve had their fill. Most likely it happened while you were out for a walk and she brushed up against a bush that had a tick clinging to it.
Some tick remedies don’t kill the ticks until they draw blood. At which point the lethargic dying bug will drop off. Some tick preventatives start killing the bug as soon as it’s in the fur.
Um maybe but i would go into it farther by looking it up on the internet or asking your doctor!
I would say it is possible, kennels cant inspect every inch of every animal that comes in, but I wouldnt say it is the kennels fault. A tick can be picked up anywhere, a walk in the neighborhood, or park your back yard……I hope your dog feels better soon! Ask the kennel you took her to if they have had any other complaints, or have noticed those symptoms in dogs they are currently boarding or have boarded recently. That may helpyou find out if it was contracted at the kennel, just remember that you cant inspect every inch of an animal ,and that is up to the pet owners to keep there pets clean and disease free before bringing them i n to a populated area.
My vet buddy says yes, all the other dog needs is a tick that is infected.
it is cause by a tick and it could either have been on her before she was taken and you may of not seen it at the time..and it also depend if the other kennels were open wire where the other dog see the other one and it can jump from one dog to another. When a tick bites it doen’t show right away as it takes days for any sign of the dog to get sick, also if you dog got it from another while it was there it would not be the kennels fault as they would of not seen the tick. A friend cat had a tick right on top of her eye brow and she didn’t see it until i pointed it out to her and she said she tought it was a skin mole..I told her when a tick is fat with blood there body turn grey and at the butt end it has a bit of a dent in it..here are a few links you can see..you may not like the looks but this will help you

The average incubation time for lyme disease is 7-14 days BUT it can be as little as 3 days or as long as a month before symptoms occur. So while it is possible she got it at the kennel, it is also just as possible that it happened afterwards. Try this link.
